PULP CAPPING

IDR 200.000,-

Pulp capping is a dental procedure used to protect the tooth’s pulp (the innermost part of the tooth containing nerves and blood vessels) when it is exposed or nearly exposed due to decay, trauma, or other factors. The procedure aims to preserve the health of the pulp and avoid the need for a root canal.

There are two types of pulp capping:

  1. Direct Pulp Capping: This is performed when the pulp is exposed. A biocompatible material, often calcium hydroxide or mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), is placed directly over the exposed pulp to protect it and encourage healing and the formation of a protective layer of dentin.
  2. Indirect Pulp Capping: This is used when the pulp is not fully exposed but is very close to being exposed due to deep decay. The dentist removes most of the decayed tissue, leaving a thin layer over the pulp. A protective material is then placed over it to prevent further decay and promote healing.

Pulp capping is a conservative approach aimed at saving the tooth and maintaining its vitality.
