Though this may begin as minor oral discomfort, gum disease can lead to tooth loss, jawbone recession, and even serious whole-body health problems like cardiovascular disease.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Warning Signs Of Gum Disease<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Swollen, tender, or bleeding gums<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Persistent bad breath (halitosis)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receding gums<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deep pockets between gums and teeth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heightened tooth sensitivity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loose or shifting teeth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How To Rinse With Salt Water<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The key to using salt water to help with gum disease is knowing how to do it. We recommend mixing about a teaspoon of sea salt in a glass of warm water. Rinsing with salt water does not mean swallowing it. Instead, take the salt water in the mouth and move it around for 15 to 30 seconds. When done rinsing, spit out the salt water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeat the rinsing 2 to 3 times a day. Overuse of rinsing with salt water can damage the enamel and lead to more problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What It Does<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Salt is a natural disinfectant. Rinsing with salt water does a few things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>\u2022<\/td><td>Removes any loose debris and helps clean the teeth and gums. The process of rinsing can remove some of the food or other particles on the teeth and gums.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u2022<\/td><td>Helps with Healing \u2013 Saltwater can help heal the damage caused by gum disease.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u2022<\/td><td>Reduces Inflammation \u2013 The warm salt water rinse is an effective way to reduce the inflammation and swelling associated with gum disease.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Saltwater rinses can help with the treatment for gum disease, but it cannot fix the problems on its own.
